Elizabeth Helfant is the Coordinator of Curricular and Pedagogical Innovation at the Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS), a JK-12 school of 1250 students in Missouri. Following graduation from Davidson College in 1984, Ms Helfant began her career in education teaching chemistry, physics, and mathematics. She has been in education for 29 years, 16 of which have been at MICDS. She had an integral role in implementing a 1-to-1 tablet program in grades 7-12 at MICDS. Elizabeth has presented at numerous conferences, including Midwest Educational Technology Conference, ISTE, ASB Un-Plugged, Lausanne Laptop Institute and NESA. She presents and consults on a wide range of topics including Best Practices in Assessment, Teaching Skills with Technology, Using Brain Research in the Classroom. Designing Student-centered Curriculum, Engagement Strategies, Design Thinking, and STEM education. Elizabeth is also well-versed in designing and delivering professional development for faculty and connecting it to faculty growth/portfolios aligned to either Danielson or Marzano’s frameworks.

Elizabeth has worked as a consultant for the last 8 years providing workshops on her favorite presentation topics as well as on a variety of platforms and tools such as Google Apps, Office 365, Haiku, Instructure Canvas, Adobe, and Interactive Projectors. She has consulted internationally for both public and private institutions. In her spare time, she has taught courses for ASB Online Academy, The Online School for Girls, and Global Online Academy. A perpetual learner, Elizabeth counts herself as a thought leader and change agent who has a talent for helping others synthesize the educational literature with their practice in a way that leads to thoughtful implementation and classroom change that impacts student learning.
