Cory has been the Principal of R.O. Hawkins Junior High School in Jackson, Missouri for the past 15 years. Prior to this appointment he served in education as a math teacher, guidance counselor, Junior High Assistant Principal, High School Assistant Principal, coach (baseball, football and basketball) and played professional baseball for the Atlanta Braves Organization. R.O. Hawkins Junior High is an 8th and 9th grade school that is the largest junior high in the Southeast Missouri area enrolling between 770 – 800 students. The School has been recognized as a National Power of ICU Spotlight School, received the National Brickhouse Achievement Award, received the Exemplary Professional Learning Community Award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary and achieved Academic Distinction among schools in Missouri.

Due to the success at R.O. Hawkins, schools across Missouri and around the region have visited and begun building their own ICU school.
